Hardship.

At cujo, we understand that life can take unexpected turns. If you’re facing financial hardship, we are here to help.

Our Hardship Policy exists to help customers who are unable to meet their payments due in accordance with their payment schedule. Based on individual circumstances we allow some extra time to make repayments and waive our late fees ordinarily applicable to our customers.

Our support stretches over a wide range of circumstances that include natural disaster, redundancy or recent unemployment, sudden illness, relationship breakdown, domestic or family violence or other personal reasons impacting your ability to meet your financial obligations.

If your ability to make a payment has been impacted, please let us know. It’s best to apply for financial hardship right away, so we can help you sooner.

If you believe you may be facing financial hardship for a longer period of time, complete our online Financial Hardship Application Form.

To help us assess your application, we may follow up and request:

  • Reason for financial hardship;

  • Income details, including payslips or Centrelink statements;

  • Total living expenses;

  • Medical certificates.

Cujo treats all hardship applications as urgent matters and will confirm the outcome of the hardship application in writing within 21 days from the date of receipt of the application.

Some possible solutions to your hardship

If your application is approved, you may be offered one of the following arrangements:

  1. Short term postponement of any payments due for a limited period of time; and/or

  2. Waiving of late payment fees

We are committed to helping you overcome your hardship and still meet your lease obligations and your obligations to cujo. If you have another reasonable solution, then we are happy to consider it.

Please note that if you are unhappy with the outcome of your request for hardship assistance, you can contact the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) on 1800 931 678.
